Lyrics
Neela aasmaan so gaya
Ons barse raat bheege honth tharraaye
Dhadkane kuchh kehna chaahe keh nahin paaye
Hawa ka geet madhyam hai
Samay ki chaal bhi kam hai
Neela aasmaan so gaya
Meri baahon mein sharmate lajaate aise tum aaye
Ki jaise baadlon mein chaand dheere dheere aa jaaye
Yeh tanhaayi yeh main aur tum
Zameen bhi ho gayi gumsum
Neela aasmaan so gaya
Lyrics:Javed Akhtar

Translation
Falls asleep is the blue sky.
Dew showers, wets the night, lips shiver.
Heartbeats wishes to say something, couldn't utter.
Breeze sings softly.
Time too flows slowly.
Falls asleep is the blue sky.
You come into my arms, as if shying away.
Like moon into the clouds, slowly slips away.
This solitude, you and me.
Even the land has fallen in silence.
Falls asleep is the blue sky.

Female Version
Lyrics
Neela aasmaan so gaya
Aansuon mein chaand dooba raat murjhaayi
Zindagi mein door tak phaili hai tanhaayi
Jo guzre ham pe woh kam hai
Tumhaare gham ka mausam hai
Neela aasmaan so gaya -2
Yaad ki waadi mein goonje beete afsaane
Hamsafar jo kal the ab thehre woh begaane
Mohabbat aaj pyaasi hai
Badi gehri udaasi hai
Neela aasmaan so gaya ho

Translation
Falls asleep is the blue sky.
The moon is immersed in tears, night too withers.
In life for long hours loneliness scatters.
What I have suffered is just a so far.
Woes of your seperation fills the weather.
Falls asleep is the blue sky.
In the woods of memories echoes the tales of the yesteryears.
Yesterday one who was co-traveler is now a stranger.
The love is thirsty today.
Deep is the grief-melancholy.
Falls asleep is the blue sky.

Shiv Hari though is the music director of the film, the credit the composition of the music of these two songs goes to Amitabh Bachchan and Shammi Kapoor.
The story is as under.
Shooting of Zameer(1975) was in progress.
Amitabh Bachchan would take his guitar in the room of Shammi Kapoor and both spent some musical sessions with each other after the shooting.
One night both of them composed this music.
After many years, during shooting of Silsila after hearing these lyrics by Javed Akhtar, Bacchan hummed these all by himself on that tune.
He offered this tune, took consent of Shammi Kapooor over telephone, and set the music for this song.
For the first time a song was composed not by any qualified music director but by two actors.
Thank you.
